Post here if you have a new band and would like any help.

My band has gotten off it's feet pretty quickly (in a week we had 9 orginal songs nailed, an EP in the works and our first gig sorted) and I'm sure others have help they can give too.

Yeah that helps.

You need a solid drummer because they are the backbone of your band. If she needs to go she needs to go.

Also I'd suggest that you have playing experience. Us guys have all jammed for 2 years but not had a band and sat down and wrote songs.

Me and Tom can put together some guitar and bass within a matter of seconds and Danny our drummer can lay a beat down within 4 - 8 bars everytime.

I do suggest that you play well together. Charisma?

Replace her then if she is a problem. You do need a solid band and can't have any weak points. If you all put on a great performance and your drummer can't play a quarterbeat then you're arseholed.

You're gonna have to sacrifice something because you definately can't have poor musicians in a band. No matter if they're your friend or whatnot, if they can't cut it then cut them.

Me and my best mate have always talked about having a band. He does vocals but he isn't anywhere near the level that we need and I don't think he has the motivation to perform as he passed up a few chances in school to play with us. There are 4 of us who are really close mates, 3 of us have made the band, but the 4th won't be joining as we can all sing and we've no use for a seperate worse singer.

Well have you considered asking other bands' drummers if they'll drum for you as well?

In our band we're all in at least one more band (all of us are another band, Danny and Tom are in a 3rd) and there's no real issues. Maybe you should try it.

Awesome man stick at it.

Guitarists are by far the most common musicians when it comes to guitarists, bassists, vocalists and drummers so I'm sure someone will pop up soon.

Emma if I were you I'd learn everything. Being able to play an instrument is a gift, so don't stop at one learn as many as you can.

I know someone who can play over 25 instruments. I'll ask him to give me an up-to-date list. Razz

btw... Bass is easier than guitar imo, but the strings will hurt your fingers even if you have been playing guitar for 4 years previously.
